Manzanillo Saturday Market.

We've been to day markets before and if you haven't been you must experience one. They sell everything from meat and produce to toys and bras. Instead of going with a tour we joined up with a couple we met at the resort and headed out for the experience.

We hired a cab for a whole $350 pesos ($3.50US) and within 10 minutes we were there. By mere coincidence he dropped us right at Las Primaveras. A local mall of sorts filled with crafts, pottery, blown glass etc... We staggered around for a few minutes not even realizing we were there, not even having the intent to be there even though some resort staff had mentioned it to us.

Olwyn starting to tak in all that Las Primaveras has to offer.
Las Primaveras

This place had everything from flowers to fine art.

If only there was a way to take it home.

Back to the main mall. Plaza Mercado was a fairly large mall that had many small shops including vegetable, meat and fish markets. This was a main market not part of the Saturday Market just down the street that exists for only a few hours on Saturdays.
Plaza Mercado

Olwyn waited across the street when I took these two shots. There's just something she doesn't like about the meat, fish and sunny day combination.

As I have said many times before I love the colour and action of a market.

It was mid day when we left the plaza in search of the Saturday Market. Many vendors lined the streets. This one was selling fresh cut fruit.

As we strolled toward the market we came to Hollywood and Vine.

The market was huge and as I said before it sold everything you could think of including pinatas.

My favorite was the farmers market portion.

Dried pimentos. You could tell some were hot just by looking at them

You could tell by the trucks that some sellers were not small scale operations.

Grapes were the size of golfballs.

This fellow was quite proud of his produce. When he saw my camers he quickly rearranged things for my benefit.

His potatoes were of normal size but those raddishes were huge and firm. I'd have loved to talk to him... if I'd only known the language..

I'm starting to hungry.

Every dried product you could think of, pasta, peppers, corn...

The west end of the market. The road led to the beach.
