Ken and Olwyn in Little Rock (our anniversary).

We had heard Petite Jean State Park was beatiful with one prominent feature being a huge water fall. So... off to the park we went. Little Rock is right on the edge of plains and mountains. The road leaving the city didn't take long to become a neat windy road.

As the road rose into th mountains we stopped at a viewpoint. As it turned out it was also the burial place of Petite Jean.

Once in the park we came accross a viewpoint of the falls area. High, but not as spectacular as we had expected. We decided we'd take the hike down anyway but first a few other trails and lunch.
Petite Jean and Pinnacle Mountain

One of the other trails. It is believed parts of this area was once a river bed. Some of the formations would allow one to believe it. A few shots of the trail.

The start of the trail was steep with many steps. It was also rough so if you go wear decent soled shoes.

Fortunately it was well shaded as the day was hot and sunny.

Another glimpse of the top. Deceiving as it doesn't look like we came down far but we sure did.

When we made it to the basin we saw from the top I decided that was far enough for me. As you can see in the photo the edge of the trail became steep and unstable.

On the way back to Little Rock we stopped at Pinnacle Mountain State Park. The Park office was closed and the sun was setting fast but we managed to get a couple of pictures before dark.
